Calendar, invites, red scouting app, etc

I regret that as a volunteer I don’t have the time to properly test this before asking about it (Sorry, developers)

  1. Does the Red scouting app check to see if someone is invited before showing an event to them on the calendar?

  2. Whatever the answer is to 1) does advancements.scouting.org work the same way? (that is, I don’t see something in the red app because I am not invited, should I also not see it when logged in to advancements.scouting.org?) Or, if I do see it in the app, should I see it on the advancements site?

  3. Does the internet calendar that people can subscribe to check to see whether someone is invited before including data about the event in the ics file? (I am pretty sure the answer is no becuase they are not logging in to anything and the server doesn’t know who it is serving the data to…)

Asking because I have den leaders who thought they made den meetings but parents who said they didn’t see any den meetings in the calendar.

@JasonWhong

  1. I don’t know, I expect it to work the same as the website, if it doesn’t it is a bug.
  2. There are no checks to see if someone is invited prior to displaying the event on the calendar due to 3.
  3. ICS feeds do not check to see if someone is invited because there is no login. Because anyone can see the full calendar by subscribing, we don’t block what someone can see when they log in to Scoutbook Plus.

I suspect if parents are not seeing an event in Scoutbook Plus it is because they have their calendar filters set incorrectly.

One the website - all things on a unit calendar shows for all members - invited or not I believe.
