Calendar Permissions for ASM and Committee Members

What is the best way to allow specific ASMs and Committee Members the ability to add Calendar events, without giving them full Troop Admin capabilities?

2 ideas I have from my searching are:

  1. Add Outdoor Activities Chair title, or
  2. Add Troop Secretary title.

Neither of these are preferable to me as we have other leaders in the these roles. Is there a better way? We’re fortunate to have leaders pitching in to schedule and run events, but we need to let them put these on the calendar!

There isn’t a specific “Calendar Editor” role for adults, as there is for youth, although more granular permissions have been requested many times in the past. My understanding from prior posts by SUAC members is that changes to calendar permissions for scouters are likely to happen only after all of the functions migrate to Scoutbook Plus (SB+), since the permissions are currently tied in two different ways:

Classic Scoutbook - Permissions are hard-coded to certain “roles”
Scoutbook Plus - Permissions are largely dependent on actual registered positions and/or funtional roles assigned in the Position Manager at my.scouting, although some of the Scoutbook functional roles are respected for various purposes.

I would tag any scouter who needs editing permissions for the calendar as Unit Secretary in Classic Scoutbook, which is what we used to do in my old pack for the same purpose. It doesn’t actually change their registrations, and is likely the best workaround until more granular permissions are implemented (barring the desire/willingness to make them a Unit Admin/Key 3 Delegate).

If the ASMs are only adding calendar events for the patrols to patrol calendars, you could make them Patrol Admins, although that would not allow them to add things to the troop calendar, just the individual patrol for which they are an admin.
