Can Not Create Camping/Hiking/Service Hours

I can add and edit activities in the calendar but it will not let me add camping/hiking/service hours, even after the activity has occurred. I suspect it is due to the new-ish permissions in Scoutbook Plus. I am listed as Committee Member in Scoutbook Plus, but in Legacy Scoutbook I am Committee Member, Troop Admin, and Committee Secretary. I expect I will need one of my key 3 to edit my permissions (currently it looks like my only permission is Reports), but I would like to know what permissions/positions I should tell them to give me to enable me to add these in the calendar.

@JonHarper you are only registered as a Committee Member in Troop 13 - your Key needs to look at these links to take action if they want to

A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

I downloaded and read the permissions document. I need to know what permission(s) I need to enter the calendar events. Is this calendar, activity, or something else?

@JonHarper - for activity log entry this is what you will need

I will request all the permissions and see what happens. It just seems odd to me that with my current default permissions it looks like I should not be able to add any calendar events/activities but I can add them and even edit them. I just can not add camping/hiking/service hours to the activities.

@JonHarper yes your calendar stuff is being looked at - might be left over from Admin in Legacy

I talked with our Scoutmaster last night and he said I already had calendar permission and added activity permission. I can do what I need to now.

Piggybacking on this, with the opposite issue (can create a Log with no people, but not a calendar event)

Our SM says she gave all ASM “whole troop permission for calendar”

We have never needed the SB calendar as we use TroopWebHost.
When adding an activity, these screen shots imply that we have to create a calendar event rather than a straight activity log like I’ve done for years.

Please confirm:

  1. Is this true that calendar event is required for an activity log?
  2. If she gave us calendar permissions, should I see a blue + at the top right, per the FAQ?

I see a dozen similar questions in the last few months. I wonder if it is more of a hindrance than a help to strictly keep calendar & activity permissions separate. In many cases, it’s the same people doing both items, and clearly a lack of clarity for many of us.

@Lithigin you do not have calendar permissions - not sure why you can get to edit screen

@Lithigin you do not have to associate to a calendar event - it does make life a lot simpler if you do.
