Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I have a Scout (BSA # 14309805) that I have been trying to transfer into Troop 422 (boys/combined) for weeks now.
His National fees are paid, but I keep getting an error when I try to transfer him. The error says the system can’t find him for me to transfer him. It’s been suggested that because his former Troop hasn’t rechartered yet, he can’t be transferred. That doesn’t really seem fair to the Scout that he’s stuck in limbo because his old Troop hasn’t rechartered - completely out of his control. It’s a small Troop. What if they don’t recharter and disband?
If Troop did not recharter then the registration is the issue (no unit = no registration) - if the Scout is registered (paid and up to date) with no Unit the Council can put the scout in a unit.
I thought Council could put him into a unit as well, but they said they can’t transfer him until the unit he’s “in” completes recharter. He paid his National dues nearly 2 weeks ago, so he should be up to date.
I think I would politely ask Council if the want a Registration or not - if so, they can figure out a solution or ask National for help with a Membercare Ticket.
