Certificates to show completion of a training plan

@etruongcao - you apparently will need to retake the 4 sections at one time or within 60 days to get the cert as shown above.

I thought that was only for Youth Protection Training (YPT)?

@JenniferOlinger - I think we need a confirmation on that but since one person has a cert after taking the course, and it was noted that there is a gap in another and no cert…

I think this is being overthought. I have never seen a Baloo instructor not accept a screen shot. Most use the Scout is Trustworthy model. Same for IOLS.

I just went through the BALOO online prerequisite again, still didn’t get a certificate upon completion.

Thanks for remind me. When this topic came up a couple of weeks back, I redid the training as well. No certificate like I had gotten 4 years before.

Yeah, there are no more certificates for learning plans. I just submitted a screenshot of the completion prior to attending BALOO and that was good enough. I think it’s kind of interesting that there is no real record of the in-person BALOO training either.

The completion of the in-person BALOO training should be entered into the scouter’s record as C32 - BALOO (Basic Adult Ldr Outdoor Orient). That should be visible within your training record on My Scouting, and from there you can print a certificate. If that is not showing up (after allowing a few weeks after completing training for someone to enter those records), it is definitely worth following up to make sure it gets entered.

I verified that the certificates for C32 are still generating as expected.

They aren’t still being generated for completion of all prework like they had in the past.

There are certificates for each part, monotone blue. The system isn’t generating a roll-up certificate for the prework. It has not been communicated that these should no longer be expected.

Correct. My post was purely about certificates for the final (in-person) completion.

I also plan to just send in a screenshot that shoes I completed it, and the campmaster told me that would be fine.

So, as it is right now, things aren’t broken per se, since we’re all pretty easy going and will accept screenshots in lieu of certificates, but I do still feel that we should have something official for verifying completion of the entire BALOO prerequisite, rather than just relying on the screenshot. Certs for the individual training modules as well as a training report are both official verification documents, but along that avenue I was hoping for a singular line item or cert that says ā€œhas completed the BALOO prerequisiteā€œ.

Again, not to say things are broken or need to be urgently implemented, but would be nice to have a a way to formalize things.

I think someone said that this should be taken up with local council. Isn’t this a question about the online training system and record keeping that applies nationally?

@etruongcao - your local council are the folks that can raise an issue with national or ask for an enhancement

Yeah, I know exactly what you’re saying and agree completely. Every other lesson management system I’ve had the misfortune to be involved with (thanks DoD) has generated certificates for learning plans like this one. Like @etruongcao said most recently, it’s not a massive issue since most every Council seems to accept a screenshot, but it definitely makes things look a bit more polished and professional.

We’ll, you could provide the 4 separate certificates. :frowning:

You could also provide your own ā€œMember Training Reportā€, although that report has all of your training, not just the modules that you need.
