Cleaning Old Connections From my Pack Deleted Connections for My Son From His Troop

Continuing the discussion from June 12, 2025 Legacy Scoutbook Update:

I cleaned old connections from my pack using the option in the Pack Roster do to a few When I did so it said it was cleaning somewhere around 619 connections. I thought this was odd but seeing there was no option to not clean these I closed the window. I than went to check something in my son’s account and noticed he only had two connections left. Me and my wife. I checked my other son and the same thing happened. I am a Troop admin in Scoutbook for my oldest son’s Troop so it was easy to add back the Scoutmaster and everyone else that should have been connected to him. My youngest son’s Troop that is not the case. I do not have everyone’s email or SA ID # so I can not add them back manually. He is still in the troop roster so I am not sure why the Scoutmaster, Committee Chair and other potions that have automatic connections were deleted. Again not sure why working with the packs roster would have affected them anyway.

@DavidBrtva what is MID of Scout - so to be clear - you went to SCOUT’s Conenctions - and clicked Clear Old connections, after they were in the new troop. Had the troop established connections? they are only automatic for Admins

No I use the clean old connections for my Pack on the Pack Roster Screen to clean out connections to leaders that were no longer in the Pack.

So you did this when the Scouts were still in the pack then they moved to a troop?

No they have been in the troop for several years. I just did it this morning because I noticed a former Leader who is not even registered any more was connected to a Scout in the Pack that I am Cubmaster for. I didn’t know how many other Scouts she or some other past Leaders might be connected to so I thought using the Clean Old Connections would be the easiest way without having to look at each Scouts Account.

I just happened to go look to see if my son’s merit badges from Summer Camp had been uploaded yet and noticed that he only had two connections. I than checked my other son’s account and the same thing. Just to let you know they are in two separate troops.

OK let me see - not sure I have ever tried it that way

OK I wasn’t even in either of the Troops rosters or anything with connections for the Troops or my sons.

@DavidBrtva yeah something is not right

Upon further review I personally lost connections to some but not all of the Scouts in the Troop that I am not an admin for that I had connections with prior.

Also my son’s of course also lost MB Councilors that they had connections with and were working with.

Just wanted to provide you with as much information as possible.

I am adding MB Councilors back in.

yeah I think doing it that way is kind of a backdoor we never tested - but thanks - it is reported

Is there any way you can get my son’s unit leaders reconnected to him or am I going to have to invite them or have them do it?

The Admins can go to Unit Roster > click their own name > click Unit Admin > Click Update - that will connect them.
Then they can use Connection manager to fix the rest.
