Connections issue in Merit Badge completions by others not in troop/ assigned to scout

We reviewed a scout’s Merit Badge work tonight. He had sign offs by people not in his connections and some dates are prior to him bridging from Pack to Troop.

Merit Badge is cooking - we have some screen shots.

@HillaryRepik

This is an issue to discuss with the Scout and possibly the parents. The Audit Log will tell you who marked the MB or requirements complete.

@HillaryRepik Please check if they ever took or signed up for a merit badge class online or based in VA (even if not those dates).

Good morning and thank you for the feedback, the Family is double checking. We did check his connections originally, and the Scout does not recall starting this specific merit badge. Provide an update once we dig a little deeper.

It is possible the MBCs made the connections and subsequently deleted them as soon as they entered the requirements. But there would have had to be some mistake given the dates you mentioned. That would be the software working as expected with some user error. However, I don’t want to dismiss the possibility of a software issue either.

Hi we have found multiple scouts with similar sign offs from others. We do a monthly upload from SCoutbook to Troop Webhost so those are like an “archive” for us. I have some details of other items we found (similar MP/ and other Adult names) - do you want me to post to the forum or send separately to someone? nI some cases we should be the only MB Councilors for these other scouts we found.

@HillaryRepik you can post examples here in this format
Scout Member # (no name) / Merit Badge / Requirement #

We have asked the developers to look into it based on your original example and one other. Hang onto those examples for now. If we need more, we’ll let you know and possibly set up a private message to more easily discuss specifics. If possible leave those records as is to allow the developers to see them without additional changes.
