Scout appears, but can't sign off MB as an MBC

I am an Merit Badge Counselor for Cooking MB.

“My connections” on legacy scoutbook shows that I am connected with a scout.

However, when I click on the scout’s name, it takes me to an error page (see screeshot below) The link on that error page, brought me to this forum, and hence this message.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Oh and the connected scout does not appear anywhere on my MBC Dashboard on “Scoutbook plus”, but the scout’s name does appear on the list when I generate a report (Merit Badge In-Progress Report - MBC View)

Thanks in advance for the help

You need to use Scoutbook Plus now.

@NiharKhedekar,

There is an updated help file here:

https://help.scoutbook.scouting.org/knowledge-base/scoutbook-plus-merit-badge-counselor-guide/

The new help page didn’t really help. It doesn’t cover the error I’m getting. As I mentioned, the connected scout doesn’t appear on my dashboard.

Thank you @edavignon

The error screenshot I pasted, appears in both legacy as well as scoutbook plus

@JenniferOlinger you mentioned in this reply that you may have solved it? What was the solution?

@NiharKhedekar - on the mbc dashboard can you change the view to be youth rather than merit badge and see if they are listed. The whoops error would never show up in advancements.scouting.org as that is a different code set.

We would need to scouts member number (no names) to look them up

Thank you @Stephen_Hornak

Unfortunately that didn’t work either. It showed an empty list. Attaching screenshot below.

It seems you are connected to 1 scout for Cooking and you have signed off on that meritbadge. I think once you sign off on the overall MB you no longer see the scout, but I am checking that

@NiharKhedekar - that no data is usually a cache issue..can you try a hard refresh. I know that the scouts remain listed post sign off, approval and awarded.

Yeah I would try on a computer and/or a private window

My problem is now resolved.
Turns out the when the parent of the scout initiated the connection, they did it via the legacy scoutbook. So although the scout shows up on my “MB In-Progress - MBC View” in Scoutbook Plus, the scout didn’t appear anywhere else on the MBC dashboard.

I asked the parent to reconnect the scout with me using Scoutbook Plus and all worked well.

Thank you everyone for the help.

Thank you again Stephan. That screenshot was from yesterday, before the parent connected via Scoutbook Plus.

Truly appreciate not only all the responses, but the promptness and timeliness in all the responses.

@NiharKhedekar - that is great news.. but certainly using legacy scoutbook is an on-going issue.. old habits die hard
