Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
When I log in to scoutbook it tells me there is another account using my email that I have never signed into. My primary Member ID that I use is SB User ID:12422640 Member ID:13708481.
The account that I do not use is Member ID: 13987197
When I log in with my primary account (13708481) in scoutbook plus I started receiving the message below (I assume because maybe the other ID is the one linked to my son instead of my primary account?) How can this be fixed?
Relationship Verification Needed
Your relationship to the following youth needs to be validated or access will become limited on 12/31/25:
Please contact the youth’s other Parent/Guardian or unit leader to add you to the youth.
Ultimately, I think you’ll need your registrar’s assistance to get this sorted out, if the registered scouter Member ID doesn’t match the one to which the youth relationship is assigned in the Akela membership database.
Assuming that …8481 is your registered scouter Member ID and …7197 is the Member ID your parent relationship is assigned to, the registrar will need to move the parent relationship to the registered Scouter Member ID. Ideally, if all of the PII matches, the system should have found you when you registered as a scouter. However, if something is missing or a mismatch (e.g. DOB errors, parent nickname vs legal name on new scout application, etc), the system might not have caught it automatically.
The registrar should also be able to put both Member IDs under management (with the registered scouter ID as primary). If the PII matches, users can do this, too, at my.scouting using Manage Member ID. However, I don’t know whether that will also transfer/merge the relationship in Akela. I suspect not, though.
My scoutmaster had reached out to someone at our Council office and she said the accounts could be merged but either I have to do it myself (which I don’t seem to be able to (I tried pulling in my non primary ID under Manage Member ID to try and merge them but it won’t pull it up) or IT would have to do it because she doesn’t have access. I’ll try letting her know to just submit an IT ticket because nobody that I’ve talked to locally seems to know how to resolve all of it. Thanks!
One of the SUAC might be able to provide more details (since some of them can see behind the registrar curtain), even if they can’t actually make all of the changes themselves.
The fact that you weren’t able to put the two Member IDs under management yourself supports the idea that there’s some sort of PII mismatch.
After you said that I did some digging and yep the account I don’t typically use has my birthday wrong which explains why I’ve never been able to link to it. I’ll see about getting that changed and maybe that’ll do the trick. Thank you!
@AshleyBuxton the SB is fixed - the different DOB messed things up - your parent relationship is on the other account - either your unit needs to add the relationship in SB+ under the Scouts Profile - or your council can fix the relationship
