Email about 12 hours after recharter saying it won't process if we don't confirm the payments

I haven’t heard back from our Treasurer, but if we don’t confirm this, will our payment really get stopped?

that is rather standard practice - paypal does the same thing

Yes and no. I haven’t had to do it in a long time, but I guess I use a lot of PayPal after setting it up long ago. Our council uses ScoutingEvent / BlackPug and doesn’t require the verification.

Again, I guess it was the surprise. We pay doesn’t require a login, just clicking on the provided link.

I think there may be a difference in the process/operations between black pug direct accounts and the blind we pay interface
