eSignature for Den Leader is not populating when printing the pocket certificate for Cub Scout adventures.
For context, these are AOL den leaders. I believe the issue is because I cannot assign the position of AOL den leader. If I choose the den leader option, it doesn’t allow me to select the AOL den. It is the same if I choose the Webelos den leader option. Currently, they are able to make changes to their AOL dens because they are assigned as the AOl den admin. That was the only way we found to give access.
So, I believe the picket certificates are not populating a name because there is technically no one assigned as AOL den leader. Is there a fix/workaround for this issue?
@DinoSantos - how and where are you assigning the leaders ? Perhaps some screen shots with names obscured.
I’m assigning the positions in scoutbook, not scoutbook+, because I don’t see the option to print the pocket certificates in sb+.
Attached are screenshots from scoutbook. AOL den is Den 6B and Den 6G. You will see that for multiple den leader type positions, I am unable to select Den 6B and Den 6G. I am only able to select it within the Den Admin position.
@DinoSantos - i suspected you were trying this in classic scoutbook. You would need to work den management in advancements.scouting.org. And those are webelos dens not aol dens.
What it looks like you’re seeing is this behavior, @DinoSantos:
Den Admin - There’s only one functional role for this (i.e. not Tiger Den Admin, Den Admin, Webelos Den Admin,…), and it’s a Classic Scoutbook role. Thus, it works for any den, whether there is an assigned den level or not. Quirks of the original code, I suspect.
Den Leader - This one is a bit of a problem, because when the transition from Classic Scoutbook to Scoutbook+ occurred, there was no distinction between Webelos dens serving scouts working towards Webelos (i.e. 4th graders) and Webelos dens serving scouts working towards Arrow of Light. They were all “Webelos”, so Webelos Den Leader was the relevant role.
That said, now there are AoL dens, so presumably the old code in Classic Scoutbook would have needed to be updated to permit one of the roles to handle that den “type”. Since the folks at national directing the developers had limited resources, rather than trying to upgrade both the old system and the new to support the new program, they just updated SB+. That’s why all of the advancement and den management occurs in SB+ now. Adding the “new” den type to the “old” Scoutbook platform likely didn’t make sense, assuming they could actually find developers who have the requisite language skills.
The den leaders have been properly assigned in SB+. However, the function to print the pocket certificates is only in old SB.
Yes, I think this is the issue as well. I understand that they don’t have resources to keep updating the old Scoutbook. It’s just an inconvenience because they are still asking us to use the old scoutbook for Needs Purchasing Report and Pocket Certificates.
I suppose the workaround is to change the designation of the AOL den back to Webelos. Then assign the den leaders.I can then print the certificates and then just reverse the changes back to original.
Glad you were able to find a work-around. I hadn’t thought about the certificates only being in Classic Scoutbook. I’m with a troop these days, so I no longer have routine interaction with a pack to keep my Scoutbook/SB+ separation sharp. :^)
Or just have the den leader physically sign the pocket certificates.
