I’m struggling to pin down why our calendar events mysteriously shift times. I work with two linked units, so calendar entries span both. Both unit preferences are set to Eastern Time. I also live along a time zone boundary (like I can look out my window and see into the Central time zone), but all of my devices are locked to Eastern Time. However, I sometimes see this happen after creating events. Scoutbook gets it’s own idea of what “local time” is, regardless of what I have set. What happens is I create the event with EST time , then add a Reminder, and the emails go out using CST times but without a notation on the time zone. It’s creating a lot of confusion in our unit.
@ChristopherWelp- one location to check is in scoutbook classic > unit page > edit unit then check the time zone setting. The second location is in scoutbook plus > click on person avitar to the right of the role drop down and click on settings and scroll down to see the TZ setting on the left
Here’s another view of the event from a mobile device that shows 3 different lines with end times. I can’t figure out why local time is different. My phone, unit, and profile settings are all set to Eastern time.
@ChristopherWelp yeah am thinking on this and a way to test/help you
@ChristopherWelp- mobile devices derive their time based on the location of the tower they connect to.
@ChristopherWelp have you tried an Incognito window? to see if cache is holding onto a timezone?
@ChristopherWelp - this is how i have my pc set up:
@ChristopherWelp- this is howI have my phone set
@ChristopherWelp yes something is not right - Devs are looking into it
Yeah, I do the same. When you live along the timezone line, it’s the only way to stay sane and wake up at the right time each day.
I took a look at one of our events and it displays this:
I suspect that the time noted as 6pm is from the sever side and the local time should in theory be reading my local machine system time
I am having the same issue with my Troop, and think I might see what is causing it:
We have our troop set to Eastern Time in both Scoutbook and Scoutbook Plus. We are still on Daylight Savings time, so Eastern Time is currently UTC-4. However, Scoutbook thinks we have switched to Standard Time already, UTC-5. Scoutbook Plus is using the correct offset.

Scoutbook Plus:
The Discrepancy between the two could be causing the issue. If this is the issue then it will persist until the clock change on 02Nov.
