Many of our parents do not regularly use their email accounts. It would be nice if it could be set up to send text messages as well as emails for notifications, calendar invites, etc.

this is built into scoutbook - but each user has to enter cell number and provider from a list
That works for sending messages but not the calendar reminders. I don’t expect any calendar enhancements until the time that the entire calendar is replaced.
There are a very limited number of carriers allowed. Using the feature as it is will not work
