Functional Roles Auto Reset?

In the middle of January, all of the Functional Roles assigned to people for our units in My Scouting got removed. In addition, everyone’s leadership roles (youth and adults) were given an end date in Scoutbook. Our council’s renewal end dates are December 31. Our unit and member renewals were done well in advance of that 12/31 date.

I was able to go in and remove the end dates for everyone in Scoutbook, and got our COR to reassign everyone to the functional roles in My Scouting that they had previously.

However, in a conversation I had with our council registrar last week, she said that the resetting of the functional roles is a feature, not a bug. She said they reset every year and you have to go back in and reassign them to people.

I don’t recall having to do that in the past, which makes me ask the question, does anyone know if that is in fact true? Every year when Unit Renewal is done, you have to go in and reassign everyone to their functional roles that got automatically removed?

They used to always have to be reset - over the past few years it has been hit or miss after many SUAC complaints - it is not predictable yet
