When I look at the connections manager I have parents who somehow got full control to
approve advancement etc for other people children. We did not set up any of this.
How does that happen. How can we avoid it in the future?
It might say “Full Control”, but if they aren’t a leader in the unit, then they can’t mark anything as Approved.
I am not sure how it happened. Did they come from another unit? Crossover from Cub Scouts? It can easily be fixed.
When you look at the connection, what type is it (adult leader, parent, other family member)?
They show up in scoutbook as a leader in our troop but we have no idea who they are. I think they are cubscout leaders.

If you do not know who they are, go to each Scout’s Connections page, and then use the “Clean Old Connections” button to disconnect the old connections.
Actually, before you do that, go to the Scout’s Membership page and make sure that the Scout does not still have an active membership with a pack. If they do, add a Date Ended to the pack membership.
Are they also on your leader roster?
It says adult leader, den leader for one. Adult leader, Cubmaster for another and just adult leader for two others The youth is my boyscout troop not cubscouts
Thanks
Eric
That does work
It is a little scary that they had the ability to check off advancements
We did have an issue with one scout that we had to have the council go fix later maybe this is how it happened
Thanks
Eric
The ones I checked don’t have a current cubscout registration it ended 9/15/19.
The troop roster looks correct. The other people only show up as connections. Some show a cub pack as membership others show our troop
Eric
I would recommend checking all of their memberships and ending any pack memberships that you find.
There is also a Clean Old Connections button on the Troop Roster page if you want to do it all at once.
If you manually transfer a Scout to your unit, connections to leaders in the former unit will not be broken. I recommend using the Clean Old Connection feature on the Troop roster page to remove old connections all at once. This will remove Adult Leader connections to leaders in units where a Scout does not have a current membership, or is not connected as a Parent/Guardian of another Scout in a unit where the Scout has a current membership
