Inconsistency in Registration Status - My.Scouting

When looking at our Pack Roster in my.scouting we have individuals (adults & scouts) whose Registration Status field shows “Re-Registered”. For the same individual, the Renewal Status shows “Eligible to Renew” and the Expiration Date shows 12/31/2024. This is incredibly confusing as the description drop-down for the Registration Status field states: " * Re-Registered - This person was in this position previously and is renewed." SO . . . is this person renewed and the expiration date not updated? or is the Registration Status field totally useless?

It is embarrassing to have to call the parents to see if they have renewed! (I am a Key 3 Delegate/Registration Inquiry/District Adv. Chair/etc. so access shouldn’t be a problem.

@RobertAcker - this is not a scoutbook bug.

@RobertAcker I would suggest first asking council what they see

Is there a separate topic area for my.scouting issues?

There is a forum category for my.scouting issues but no one from Scouting America monitors the forums. You would get the same answer to your question there as the volunteers who monitor the forums do not know why you are seeing different status or how to fix it. If this is a system issue, your Council will need to open a ticket with Member Care.

The “Registration Status” and “Renewal Status” columns are intended for different purposes. Here are the possible statuses for registration status, per My Scouting:

  • New - This registration was added for the first time or added again after 12 months of originally expiring.
  • Re-Registered - This person was in this position previously and is renewed.
  • Multiple - This registration was added along with a paid registration but is not paid.
  • Transfer - This registration was part of another organization but has been moved.
  • Separated Re-Registered - This registration expired less than 12 months ago and then was re-added.

There is no status for “current” or “renewed.” In general, for a member’s first year, their registration status will be “New.” After they renew the first time, it will change to “Re-Registered” and will stay that way indefinitely.

In short, if you are interested in finding out whether someone’s registration has been renewed, ignore the “Registration Status” column, as it is not relevant.

Thank you for the explanation! This is very helpful!

Thanks Ed! Much appreciated.
