Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I attempted to create a calendar event using Internet Advancement. A little bit of constructive feedback:
The character limit of 500 in the description makes it really hard to supply parents with the information they need and expectations for Cub Events. To get around this, I created a link to a google doc and inserted a hyperlink to more information, but I also used some formatting. After creating the event, the test did not appear with the correct format - instead it just showed the BBC Codes for formating.
I ended up deleting the event and just doing it in Scoutbook for now. I think this move to IA is promising, but I’m hoping it just needs some kinks worked out.
Thanks. Is the calendar feature in IA supposed to be usable now? Today I can’t type in the text boxes at all (which was not the case a couple days ago)…
I was giving it a second chance to put some ‘save the date’ placeholders for annual events and I would prefer to use IA over Scoutbook so I don’t have to keep going back and adding new people to the invitees.
There is a planned update for the calendar today. I just tested it and I am able to type in both the description and notes fields. Please try logging off then logging in to see if the problem resolves itself.
Still not working. I’m trying to create an event for March of 2025, I’m not sure if that’s part of the problem. If I try to put something on the calendar in the near future it appears to work fine, although I didn’t go all the way to create the event, I was able to type in the text boxes.
I misread a message from the developers. The 500 character fix is still being tested. I do not yet have a release date. Yesterday’s release was for a different issue.
