Internet Advancement : New Domain for Scoutbook

Here’s the problem with that. I typically only have access to work computers and they do not allow incognito or private logins. I wish they would have left it alone and found a work around on their end not toss the burden to users. I can honestly say that as a past employee of BSA and a current advancement and training chair that once again national has screwed up a good thing.
Making us sign into my.scouting.org for many things we could do on our phones on a campout is a huge pain and quite honestly gets put off and forgotten.

Steve,

You can clear your browser cache and delete all cookies for *.scouting.org.

IT is still working on a solution that does not require user intervention but so far they have not been successful.

What is your problem with @Stephen_Hornak’s comment? He asked some clarifying questions to better understand a user’s problem, which is what I would expect from someone that’s being helpful.

Already done. Still VERY intermittent for it working. Tried different browsers. I just wish they would have left SB as its original stand alone program. The National interface was always a pain to navigate but yet they keep throwing band aids at it.

Steve,

Which URL are you using for Scoutbook? Going to anything other that Scoutbook could cause problems.

scoutbook.scouting.org/mobile

Are you seeing the Internet Advancement page (white background) or Scoutbook page (tan background)?

It would have been nice to know about this change in advance and to have had possible solutions posted sooner. My advancement chair had a hell of a time getting everything processed for our recent court of honor and he still is not able to get access. All of the problems with Scoutbook and Internet Advancement are clearly hurting our leaders ability to carry out their responsibilities and are impacting our scouts. Forums like this help, but are no substitute for good training, training materials and a staffed user support system. And the communication about known issues needs to be promptly and widely communicated to every leader nationwide so we do not have to wait to find issues for the tech people, and to have to search around for answers to problems. I understand the monetary issues facing the BSA, but the reality is that we are seeing fees skyrocket while at the same time keep being expected to put up with badly broken systems and processes, with no plan for change or improvement.

@JohnSitzman - sort of like this one:

They should have waited. They know they can’t do anything technology wise without issues so they should have waited until this is over and leaders were not needing scout book for everything.

When would be a time that leaders aren’t using Scoutbook, so this could be done? In the past, we’ve had complaints about changes around the first of the year, complaints around the beginning of the school year, complaints about changes that aren’t around any key dates…

maybe not choose to do it in a global pandemic when internet traffic is up 140% and the BSA recommends doing activities virtually.

@scouter11- if I had venture a guess, domain registration time would be an influence on migration. There would also been hosting fees. Just a guess but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Scoutbook is used to track all activities, virtual and not. If anything, with Pack suffering, this might be a time when it is being used less.
