where do i set the join date for cub scouts? scouts have a spot here but there is not a corresponding one for cubs
@RobertWillhelm - there is no need for a date joined for cubs. The date joined scouts bsa and venturing are key for logs and the logs, OA report and ESRA
That’s a bug. It should only be saying that for Troops, Crews and Ships. I will report.
I get that it could be a bug. But my Council President has said that JTE may not be pushed on units by national, but we are still being judged on it based on what’s in scout book. so accurate activity logs are a part of those criteria. so maybe the bug is that its not on the cub scout profile page.
There is NO date joined Cub Scouts in the database because it is not needed. All activities on a Cub Scout’s record are for the period of a Cub Scout. The problem occurs when the Scout moves up to a Troop. Scoutbook must be able to differentiate Cub Scout activities from Scouts BSA activities. Because there could be activities that occurred as a member of a troop but before the Scout was transferred in the system, it needs the Date Joined Scouts BSA. It can’t use the date in Akela (the person database) because that date is always the first of the month and there could be Cub Scout activities between the first and the date the Scout actually joined the troop.
The bug is that the report should not be saying the date joined is needed on a Pack’s activity log report.
it sounds like there needs to be a date joined, Cubs, not just Scouts BSA. How does the system handle Crew, and explorers or Sea Scouts. A youth or leader could possibly be in all of them.
@RobertWillhelm the crew and ship have a date joined. There is zero need in cubs nor for adults
The Date Joined fields are needed to filter out Cub Scout activities from the Order of the Arrow Eligibility Report and the Troop’s Activity Log Report because there could be Cub Scout camping in the same month the Cub Scout crosses over to a Troop that cannot be counted towards the Camping Merit Badge. There are no Cub Scout awards that need to filter the logs in this way.
this is not just about awards, it is about active in unit. a cub could be at a few activities in a unit before they officially join
You can’t record activities for someone not in the unit.
