We have a few Scouts who don’t have a “Date Joined Scouts BSA” date on their profile. Is there somewhere I as a Troop Admin can look that up to enter it into the system? Trying to determine OA eligibility and we can’t without those dates…
@GregoryStevenson1- the application date and or date of bridging but beyond that there is no place to look up a data joined.
If you do not know the exact date the Scout joined, an estimated date is sufficient. The main purpose of the date is to filter out Cub Scout activities that are logged in Scoutbook from being used for things like the Order of the Arrow eligibility report. As long as the date is after any Cub Scout activities but before any Scouts BSA activities, the system will work properly.
We don’t use the date in the membership database because Scouting America back dates all registrations to the 1st of the month the unit was joined. This could cause issues with the above reports if there was Cub Scout camping during the month the Scout joined a Troop.
@GregoryStevenson1 Ask one of the Key 3 leaders in your troop (or someone with the Key 3 Delegate or Registration Inquiry functional role) to check at my.Scouting. They should be able to find the application date using the Application Manager.
Alternatively, they can use the Roster, and then select the Scout(s), then click Print → Unit Advancement Details Report. Look for the earliest effective date under Position, Program, BSA Org.
But like Ed said, it’s really just a filter that is used to filter out Cub Scout activities.
@JenniferOlinger- thanks for the reminder on those sources as I totally missed that.
