Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
We are a Pack that uses the Activity Log for the Cubs, I recently found out that Cubs that are going on to Troops the Adult Leaders are having “issues” because they can’t see dates, I guess, but can see the Activity. I am asking for the Troops, can there be a filter or a Cubs Check Box that can be filtered?
@AmyPosey- that already exists if the troop enters and uses the dare joined scouts BSA. Additionally the National Outdoor Activity award uses cub records through to scouts bsa
Stephen - To inform them: for the date they joined BSA is that a report they run? Also, thanks for the NOA information. I thought that was only BSA records, score one for the Pack!
Adding to Stephen’s comments, the Date Joined Scouts BSA is located in each scout’s profile. It has to be manually entered by the unit scouters because the national database handles membership on a monthly basis (based on prior posts from SUAC volunteers). So, a scout who transferred February 21, 2026 might be shown as starting in the troop on 2/1/26 if the national membership was used as a reference point. Instead, unit leaders can enter the exact date so that if there are activities that occurred immediately before the transfer, the scouts have them credited correctly.
The quick-and-dirty way I’ve checked for this in the past is to run the OA Eligibility report for the scouts, then click the links for each scout who shown up as having the “Date Joined Scouts BSA” missing. That (used to at least) take someone with the necessary permissions directly to the scout’s profile, so you could add the date.
In the activity log reports for troops, there’s a tickbox for limiting the activities listed after to the “Date Joined Scouts BSA”. There’s an analogous setting for venturers and crews (or so I understand).
@AmyPosey There is a Date Joined Scouts BSA, which is in the Scout’s profile in Scoutbook Plus. There is a similar data field for Date Joined Venturing and Date Joined Sea Scouts.
I’m confused. I thought that the issue was that there were troop scouters who couldn’t sort out how to differentiate between the pre-Scouts BSA and “current” camping, not troop parents. It seems like if the troop is trying to make this differentiation, it’s beholden on the troop scouters to facilitate/execute it as necessary. If the troop wants the scouters to be able to run the relevant reports, the Key 3 can assign the relevant permissions for those scouters.
Under the Activity Logs for an individual Scout, there is an option to Run Report. After clicking on Run Report, there is an option to run an Activity Log Report. I am not sure if it is available to parents or only adult leaders.
