Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Our committee oversees a boys and a girls troop. We maintain our calendar primarily through the boys’ troop. When we go into the boys’ site and open an event on the calendar to take attendance, it works fine. When we go into the girls’ site and open an event on their calendar it goes to the same calendar as the boys’ calendar which is actually fine. The problem is that when we go to take the attendance for the girls present, their names are not available even though we accessed the calendar from the girls’ site.
Can Scoutbook link the boys’ and girls’ rosters together so that we can go into one calendar and take attendance one time for all attendees (boys and girls?)
@JamesErdelyi - are you talking about the calendar at scoutbook.scouting.org ? Secondly they are two different units so the rosters can not be linked. You could make an event that uses both events by selecting both.
@JamesErdelyi This is already live in both Scoutbook and SBL (Internet Advancement) - the One Event has to be on both calendars - and I think the user needs to be an admin in both units
That being said - right now it is probably better to have 2 events if you are also using the logs. Logs inside an event do not work if the event has more than one unit.
Thank you for your reply, Stephen. Yes, I am talking about scoutbook.scouting.org. As for the rosters being linked, it seems that it is linking it for us (which we do not want) and we cannot get around that. Again, logging in to the boys’ unit brings us to their calendar which is fine. Logging into the girls’ unit brings us to the same calendar which only gives us the option to give credit to the boys and not the girls for attendance. I hope I’ve made that clear.
Thanks for your reply Donovan. Yes, I have administrator rights to both troops - boys and girls. Problem is that both troops go to the same calendar which only links the boys to it for attendance. If we had the ability to create a separate (but identical) calendar for the girls, I presume we would be able to get around this problem, but we can’t; clicking on the girls’ calendar goes right to the boys’ calendar.
I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green dot with a number 1 > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)
