Do I need to have the CC reset my permissions again or is this the report builder down?
I’m Advancement Coord for the Troop.

I’m having this same problem - it’s been happening with some frequency off and on for a few months now. At the moment, my husband (a Scoutmaster) is able to get in, but I get that access denied error (I’m an Advancement Coordinator and a troop Admin, so I should have permission). I thought maybe it was a login issue, where I wasn’t logged into Scoutbook Plus, but I can view the Scout’s advancements in Scoutbook Plus without an issue; I just can’t access the Report Builder Manager. I also cleared out my browser history, thinking there was something lingering that was causing the issue, but that didn’t help either.
@JanetHammond- troop admin no longer exists. You need to have the permission section looked at for your account
The roster says I’m a Troop Admin and the Unit Advancement Chair. I would think that should give me permission to get into the Report Builder Manager. Like I said, this has been happening off and on for months - sometimes it works, sometimes I get this permission error, but as far as I know my permissions/positions don’t change.
@JanetHammond- which roster? In scoutbook.scouting.org? If so there is more troop admin. It is all done via permission manager in advancements.scouting.org
It shows up on the roster in Scoutbook. In Scoutbook Plus, it says I have the following Advancement permissions: Advancement Editor (includes Youth Leadership), Advancement Awarder, Advancement Approver, MBC List and the following Unit permissions: Profile Editor and Reports. Shouldn’t the Reports permission give me access to Report Builder Manager? A big part of Advancement is being able to see where Scouts are at - if I can’t build custom reports, that seems like a pretty big flaw in the system.
@JanetHammond - so they have you listed in unit support
And in the dropdown in the upper right your role is selected
In Scoutbook Plus I’m listed as a Committee Member and Unit Advancement Chair.
@JanetHammond - and you have no other dropdown in the upper right in scoutbook plus. I will say though that you should be doing all of your work in scoutbook plus not legacy so anything there in the way of roles is void.
I know its done with the permission manager. CC already had to unlock things for me when SB made the update. Something new happened because I had access to the custom reports since then. I ran a report earlier this month without issue.
I’m just trying to see if there was another update before I bother the CC with this again.
@CaseySchultz1 @JanetHammond - have either of you tried an incognito browser session to see if it is any different ?
Just tried it. Same error
It says I have 10 different positions, but it’s really hard to get them to show and I can’t take a screenshot of it (the pop-up disappears when I try).
@JanetHammond @CaseySchultz1 - I am wondering if a key 3 adding you to the position of unit support might fix it.
ok, thanks, I’ll try that
@JanetHammond - have the key 3 add you to the position of unit support and wait 24 hours and try the reports again
That didn’t work unfortunately. I still have the same error as the original post.
My CC sent this screenshot of my positions/access:
Here’s my positions:
You might need Profile Editor permissions, since you’re trying to create/run a Roster Builder report? That’s more profile information than advancement, so maybe the system is filtering the “Reports” permissions based on that difference? I can’t easily test this on my end since I’m a Key 3 Delegate, so my access is near total.
