Lost Access to the Activity Log

I am having an issue with Scoutbook. I am listed as the assistant scoutmaster for Troop 59G and lost access to the activity log and the ability to record our scout’s progress -I have access to everything else in Scoutbook. i have included the step by step photos on of what i am doing and what i get - I did reached out to our committee chair on Sunday and he granted me access and we thought after 24 hours I would be able to record but I still do not have access.

@MelissaMoore- did they work with the permissions as an ASM has none.

A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

@MelissaMoore you are not a ASM under this login.

Yes, this is for a volunteer who sent me the email stating she doesn’t have access. She thinks she is an Assistant SM but she is only listed as a Committee Member.

Generally, things are smoother if the affected person posts here directly, since it cuts out one layer of abstraction in the questions (Have you tried X? What about Y? When did the behavior change? Which interface are you using?)

This would be the first such question: Does the scouter literally mean classic Scoutbook (scoutbook.scouting) or are they talking about SB+ (advanements.scouting)? Almost all troop management is now in SB+, and classic SB should only be used by MBCs who are approving completions by scouts they counsel and for very specific management tasks like payment logs (assuming that the unit uses them).

That’s an issue that needs to be resolved with her Unit Key 3 (e.g. change her registered position to ASM from MC) and the registrar (if the Key 3 don’t know how to make that change using the online systems). It’s important to know that, as Stephen alluded to above, ASMs do not have any default permissions to most things, so her unit Key 3 will need to assign the relevant permissions that they wish her to have as an ASM after changing her registered position.

@MelissaMoore If you could please post the user member ID number, someone can take a look..

(No names, please)

Please find attached the member ID of the individual having issues 12904339

I’m sorry for posting here as a council employee. Our volunteers for some reason would rather reach out to us versus posting their issues on the discussion forum even though I tell them to reach out here for assistance. I won’t post anymore, I’ll just create a ticket to National. Thank you.

@MelissaMoore the simple first step as a council is to look at Registrar tools or VST - that along with the links Stephen posted will give you info you need. IN Registrar Tools or VST - you will see this person does not have the Activity Functional Role - so cannot do activities. The Unit Key 3 would need to give that IF they want the user to have it, she has been given many others, so Key3 might have it setup as they want it.
