Scoutbook Plus Problems

I can log into Scoutbook Plus, but am not able to select any of my scouts’ names and add information about merit badges, rank, or activities. On the roster, the boxes next to their names give a cross through the circle icon and won’t allow me to click on it. A scout was removed from a patrol and cannot return them to their patrol because I can’t select any scout’s name, even when I select Group/Edit Patrol. When I try to go into the Activity logs and add an activity for the group with any other scouts, it is blank and gives me no option to add an activity.

Permissions in SB+ are based on a combination of the registered position for the scouter, and any supplemental permissions explicitly added by the unit Key 3 in SB+ or via a functional role assigned at my.scouting. Please see the documents linked below for additional information, and ask your unit Key 3 to set your permissions according to what they are asking you to do.

A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

If, based on the document, your registered position and/or functional role should have default access to the features you’re trying to access, make sure that you have the correct registered position selected in the upper right drop-down menu and try a forced reload of the page and/or clearing cache.

@KatrinaWymer I recommend having one of your troop’s Key 3 (Committee Chair, Scoutmaster, Chartered Org. Rep.) to check your functional roles at my.Scouting.org
