Can't log activities. Scouts and Adults not showing, and mileage for Hikes not showing

Can’t do much with out being able to tag Scouts, or record mileage for hikes. A complete dead stop in logging.

@GeoffreyRicks Have your Key 3 dealt with this? - A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.

This is happening to me too! I can only access Scoutbook Plus as a Parent to my child and cannot log activities or create/edit calendar events as a Den Leader or Den Admin. Started happening last week, fixed it (with Asst. Cubmaster’s help), happened again, fixed again (with help), happened again and now I’m at a loss for what to do. So are my Cubmaster(s).

I am sorry Donovan, what is a key? And I can log the activity, but mileage isn’t showing up for Hikes and also I can’t add scouts or adults, but I can run reports, and enter requirements and approve them etc.

@GeoffreyRicks - the unit key 3

@AmyJessee1- an assistant cubmaster would not have the authority to work with the permission manager. The unit key 3 need to look at your permissions

@AmyJessee1

I see 2 things causing you access issues.

  1. Your Webelos Leader position needs to be changed to Den Leader. Ask a Key 3 from the pack to make this change in Position Manager in either my.scouting.org or Scoutbook Plus. The change will take until the next day to be reflected.
  2. As a Committee Member in a Troop you do not have much access by default. A Key 3 member can use Position Manager in Scoutbook Plus to grant you additional permissions. These may also take until the next more to take effect.

Stephen, that wasn’t really helpful, what is a Unit Key 3?

@GeoffreyRicks- in a troop it is Scoutmaster, Committee Chair and Charter Org Rep

Thank you. I will see if those changes fix the issue.

@GeoffreyRicks,

Note that the superscripts on each ability in the PDF Donovan linked to in his post are key to following how the system works. It’s easy to confuse abilities that can be assigned to a scouter with a certain registered/functional position with those that are assigned by default, especially since the superscripts are fairly small. For example, ASMs have very little in terms of default abilities, but have fairly broad potential in terms of abilities that can be assigned by the Key 3/Key 3 Delegates.

@MichaelEhret- what specifically is the issue? Beyond that you should only have one position

I found the problem. My issue was that my entire roster was blank. No scouts were being displayed, but it turned out that a filter was set. Problem solved.

@MichaelEhret- that was an easy fix

No our Key 3 have not dealt with this. They are not very computer inclined. IMHO this was rolled out incorrectly and has made a mess for the average person that is not technically inclined. The fact that these things happen and then the change does not take until the next day is UNACCEPTABLE. If we make a mistake or someone doesn’t know how to grant permissions etc. properly you don’t find out until the next day, and then try again, and wait another day etc. I am in tech, and I would NEVER allow something as half baked as this to be rolled out.

I have the same issue. I can create an activity, but cannot add any person since (no data) shown after I click “Add Person”. Any one can help with this issue?

@JINGQINSU- your unit key 3 will need to look at the permission document to set your permissions

@JINGQINSU have you tried an Incognito window? We have seen some odd cache issues around permissions - I had to switch units in profile a few times and all of a sudden the right things showed for right unit

I think this may be a bigger bug than just a registered position issue. Internet Advancement (Or Scoutbook Plus?) is showing me registered correctly in 3 roles of “Unit Advancement Chair”, “Troop Admin”, and “Parent/Guardian”. As others have said, I can add activities to the calendar, but in the drop down menu for “Add Person”, it says “No Data” and is otherwise blank. I can still record advancements for all scouts and input MB data, so I think all my permissions are correct. I tried opening in an incognito window as well and no change. I noticed this about 2 weeks ago, thought it might fix itself overnight and then forgot. But I went back today and same issue.

@MelissaHollingsworth is it No People for a Calendar Event or a Log event? Troop Admin is a dead position and means nothing now
