MAJOR CHANGE INFORMATION: Moving away from Connections

@BelindaTaft

Please try an incognito window. We have had a few reports with permissions not working that we suspect are cache issues.

I am not sure what that is but I have tried closing my window, using a brand new one, using a new browser and cleared my cache. nothing it working

@BelindaTaft- incognito session for chrome:
Browse in Incognito mode - Computer - Google Chrome Help

So I tried the incognito mode and it still does not allow me to edit calendar events. There is not button to allow for any editing of current events at all.

@BelindaTaft are they single unit events or events for more than one unit. If more than one you have to have permissions in them all. If you want I can setup a screenshare to take a look

Just Checked out the new Permissions pages in Scoutbook Plus, you have a “Program/Administrative” section for Assistant Webelos Leader, but there is no Webelos Leader. Also the system won’t allow me to add anyone as it says their “term expires” this seems to be because the unit renews on December 31st.

@PeterBosworth Webelos Den Leader is a retired/retiring position - it and tiger, lion, aol are just den leaders moving forward - all that exist now should be changed to den leaders to limit problems.

That is understandable; however, can national blast out an email to all the Key 3s notifying us of when these things occur? Believe it or not, I do not live on these Scouting Forums.

You’re asking the wrong guy. I’m just an ASM who helps out with answering questions. I don’t disagree with you that more notice would be good, but Scouting America IT generally doesn’t provide any notice until something gets released.

The folks who make those decisions only respond to requests from council professional staff (not from the SUAC volunteers who help here). Your best bet at getting a change on the notification front is to contact your council professional staff with a clear explanation of why notification for things like this is necessary, when you think it should come, and in what form (e.g. email blast to Key 3, to all scouters,…). The more specific the information you provide, the more likely the folks making the decision are to at least get what your request is.

We recommend subscribing to the Change Log Forum by clicking on the

Is there a way to MAKE SURE This Huge error in the rollout of scoutbook+ doesn’t happen in the future. We have been operating for YEARS without having these issues and now literally weeks before Crossover we have no access to make sure that advancement is done and complete.

~ I Realize now that with our unit Somehow the XO tenure ended (and we were Still able to complete Recharter adds another layer in, but Should we still be able to move people around to get permissions back where they were. _

Also, Can this toppic have a 90 DAY expiration as compared to the 7 day because of the Multitude of topics created and re-hashed in the last 10 days due to this issue

Ed noted in another thread, in response to a similar inquiry, that councils were notified of the change:

https://discussions.scouting.org/t/cant-log-activities-scouts-and-adults-not-showing-and-mileage-for-hikes-not-showing/508361/27

After I saw that, I reached out to folks I know at the council level and asked “Can folks get some warning if y’all get notified about Scoutbook changes?”.

@TheSteaks- the topic expiration is governed by the provider of the forum system. The blue banner at the top however has the permission info.

So, I had the committee chair check permissions for me in the other troop and we have checked all the boxes and given it a couple of days to update and it still will not let me edit any calendar events. I am not sure why with me having access to both troops to all the calendar edit permissions why I can not edit events.

For troubleshooting, have you tried to create/edit an event in each unit, with just that unit? That would drive out if you have proper permissions in each unit on their own.

@BelindaTaft if it is for the Male troop - it is unclear if you have those permissions

I agree. Try each one separately to eliminate potential issues with multiple units.

I can only create for the girl unit. But we checked the permissions for the boy unit and gave me all the permissions available. Currently I am in the following positions for the boy troop;

Committee Member

Key 3 Delegate

Profile Editor

Registration Inquiry

No sure what changes, but I am able to edit calendars now. Thank you for the help and advice along the way.
