A Scout is preparing Life to Eagle and is needing to print out a couple blue cards. None of the MBC are listed for badges before 2025. MBCs outside our council are not listed as connections, nor are they listed as her MBC for approved and awarded Merit Badges. Any insight would be appreciated.
The first question would be whether the counselors used Scoutbook to log the information or simply corresponded with the scout sending photos/scans of signed blue cards. I’ve seen both for remote work. Some summer camps use an upload file or printout, which generally doesn’t contain the MBC information, just the completed requirements.
Regarding old MBCs not appearing as connections, some MBCs and units break the connection after the MB is complete. Sometimes MBCs decide not to reregister, and therefore wouldn’t appear as a connection anymore (since they’re no longer registered scouters).
If you provide the scout’s member ID (no names, please!) and the merit badges in question, the SUAC volunteers may be able to investigate further. In principle, once the MB has been signed off, that’s all there is to it. There shouldn’t be a need to produce signed blue cards once the completion is logged in the advancement database as Leader Approved.
Thank you so much for responding!
The Scout’s ID is 14192627
I think the concern is that so many of these are Eagle Required and it shows no MBC.
There are 21 merit badges that this has occurred for. Some she does have blue cards. The MBCs and connections were listed in Legacy. She only discovered it when she started to put together her Eagle packet. She’s concerned. Does she need to reach out to each of the MBCs?
Below are the MBs with completed dates. Thank you!

@KristenSchoellhorn - the blue cards and a lack of mbc is NOT something that should impact eagle. The completion dates are all that matter. The database only reflects item and completion date.. no mbc, no sign off on rank nor any requirements.
If someone is requiring the blue cards and mbc.., they are totally wrong and in conflict with the guide to advancement
In Scoutbook - MBC is only assigned if the unit assigned the MBC in Scoutbook - the unit had to take action. But as Stephen said, that is pure housekeeping. For the Eagle verification process the MBC is not even looked at or considered according to the Guide to Advancement.
Thank you. That will put her mind at ease. It was only suggested that she have the blue cards in her binder.
@KristenSchoellhorn - and the binder is not required either
@Stephen_Hornak yes a binder is not mentioned in the GTA - but from an organizational standpoint of the committee and confidence of the scout that their stuff is in order - it is not a bad idea.
@DonovanMcNeil - ah…from that vantage point I can see how it could be helpful.
Thank you for all the great information. I was concerned that it might be a Legacy to Plus issue because the connections for the previous MBCs were showing up.
Your information helps the Scout, which is the most important thing. Would you suggest the unit take any action?
@KristenSchoellhorn - i would say that everything should be fine. The council will verify the dates of the ranks and merit badges based on the eagle application and the database.
A key 3 in the unit can go to my.scouting.org then the roster, check the box to the left of the scout then in the grey menu select print and look for the unit advancement details report
that will be the details on that scout in the database.
