Merge Scoutbook IDs for Advancement sync

I have two children who are involved in two separate units in two separate Councils. They have both been involved in a Crew before, but when they tried to join a new Crew in a new Council a new Scoutbook ID was created and their previous advancement isn’t showing up. We have merged their Scoutbook IDs before, and it fixed a bunch of advancement problems. Can someone help us do it again, please?

@MeaganMead well Scoutbook only supports 1 Member ID per user. so we could see about merging all users into one for each scout. Or see about leaving 2 users for each scout with the correct MID - BUT advancement would not match between the 2 users.

I probably said it wrong…I have two separate children with the same issue, so I tried to just add both their information at the same time to be efficient. I’m not asking that the two boys be merged together, but that each boy separately could have his own Scoutbook IDs merged.

@MeaganMead is each scout actively registered in 2 councils at the same time?

Yes, they are with a Troop in one council and a Crew in a different council.

Are their Scoutbook IDs able to be merged?

@MeaganMead what are the ACTIVE registrations and I can take a look

@MeaganMead OK for Scout 1 - it is only 2 SB Users - would be best to keep one for Troop and One for Crew - is that what you want?

If we keep 2 - then Scout can just switch Primary MID in Manage Member ID to sign into the correct account

The same is true for Scout 2 - I have setup both scouts so their SB Users will no longer merge with changes that makes them more static - which works much better for scouts registered in 2 councils

Or does the scout think with some of the automatic merges - some partial advancements are gone?

This is exactly the problem. They were both in a Crew in TransAtlantic Council, and since their ScoutbookIDs aren’t merged, they have lost all of their advancement.

Their brother is also active in two councils at the same time, in the same Troop and Crew. His Scoutbook IDs were merged when he added the Crew as a multiple, so all of his advancement is still intact. Can the other two not work the same way?

@MeaganMead

Scoutbook only supports one Member ID per account. Being registered in 2 Councils works best if you maintain 2 Scoutbook Accounts and use the Manager Member ID function in my.scouting.org to switch the primary ID to switch between Scoutbook accounts. This is especially true when registered with a Troop and Crew since advancement doesn’t typically cross between them.

If you try to maintain just a single Scoutbook ID while registered in 2 Councils, one of the two units will see you as unregistered and not be able to approve advancement.

If that is true, then my third son will be having problems because he has an active Member ID in both councils, and the Scoutbook ID is the same for each Member ID. So, I guess I have two questions…1. Does my 3rd son need to get a new Scoutbook ID for his Colonial Virginia Council Member ID so that his advancement can be updated? 2. How are my other 2 sons able to get their advancement for Venture Crew updated to reflect their time in Crew 44 with TransAtlantic Council?

How can we reconcile their Scoutbook accounts to maintain functionality and also sync their Venture Crew advancement from TransAtlantic Council to Colonial Virginia Council?

Is the answer to leave the Troop in Tidewater Council and only be registered with the Crew in Colonial Virginia Council?

There is no great way we can reconcile the 2 as they are already merged. You could get History report for Venture and provide to council so they can enter the data in the new account.

Why did it work for my 3rd son to have his ScoutBook IDs merge? Should I anticipate problems with his advancement with the Crew?
