Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
When viewing merit badge counselors connections from the council admin view, we can see how many Scouts they have a connection with, is this number of connections just for Scouts in-council or does is also include connections to Scouts out-of-council?
If it does include, is there a way for us to see in-council and out-of-council connections broken out? If it does not include out-of-council, is there a way to see a count of out-of-council connections?
I imagine that is just generic connections. As MBC is a universal position that can work with any scout, not sure why a council would need to see a breakdown; and how active any given connection is, that is a very different matter which obfuscates the truth. I will see what the Connections show.
I would say to keep in mind that not all of us MBCs connect with scouts in Scoutbook. Some units don’t use Scoutbook (making connecting to the youth challenging sometimes), and generating an expectation of a hard copy blue card from the counselor. I’m pretty flexible about it. I have about a third of the scouts I’m working with on blue cards for one reason or another, although I’d prefer it all to be in Scoutbook for everyone’s convenience.
