Merit Badge Counselor missing from Scoutbook

I have a registered merit badge counselor, BSA ID134876111, who is not showing up in Scoutbook. Until a couple of weeks ago he was showing up in Scoutbook, but with BSA ID 130520784. He has renewed 3 position (including MBC) through 12/31/2025. His YPT is current. I can no longer see him in the Scoutbook Find a MB Counselor lookup or the Download the current MBC details.csv file. The my.scouting.org COUNSELOR MERIT BADGE COUNSELOR LISTING shows him (from registration information) but shows no merit badges (which should have come from Scoutbook). The council (539) registrar worked on him and thought she had him fixed. She said it was trying to sync to his other account. There was no change in what I am seeing.

The merit badges don’t flow from scout, but to Scoutbook. So, if no merit badges are listed in my.scouting, then none will be listed in Scoutbook.

Actually, the merit badges are in the database behind Scoutbook, and are pulled to my.scouting for its reports. The registration is not showing up in Scoutbook, so I can not fix the missing merit badges. There is something messed up with the cross indexes or sync between the databases behind Scoutbook and my.scouting.

@ThomasStalnaker - i think you are mistaken.. The info flows TO scoutbook and NOT from. As an example if a new MBC is entered into akela, how is scoutbook going to push merit badges the other direction for someone who doe snot exist in scoutbook.

No. Registration as a merit badge counselor resides in my.scouting as does the assignment as a merit badge counselor for a partiualr badge. A MBC must get my.scouting correct for Scoutbook to show properly.

When the registrar enters a new registration as a merit badge counselor through registrar tools in my.scouting, that information is synced overnight to Scoutbook. Only after that sync can I, as council scoutbook administrator through Scoutbook upload, or the registrar, through her tools that access the Scoutbook database, put in the specific merit badges. If you monitor a new merit badge counselor registration, you will see that there is always some time between the time the registration as a merit badge counselor appears as registered, first in my.scouting/akela and then after the sync in Scoutbook, and the time that specific merit badges appear. That may be just overnight, or several days depending when either the registrar or the council Scoutbook administrator comes back to enter the merit badges.

@ThomasStalnaker I have merged the user’s Scoutbook accounts. The MBC position should be back within 24 hours.

Please ask the local council to use the Registrar Tools to look up the user’s child with first initial “O.” In the “Relationships” tab / section, they should remove this user as parent under the secondary member ID number 130520784. He should only be listed as parent under his primary member ID number 134876111. This will help to prevent future issues, such as the creation of duplicate Scoutbook accounts.
