Messaging - Subunit: Unassigned showing Adult Leaders (Manage List Members)

Hi, The Messaging Subunit filter includes Adult Leaders who are associated with Scouts (Youth) who are assigned to a Subunit. Correct me if I am wrong but Adult Leaders are not typically assigned a Subunit and therefore should be excluded from this list unless they are associated with a Scout (Youth) who falls into the “Subunit: Unassigned” search criteria. - Thanks!

@Rick.Sedivec - sub units would be dens and patrols and adults would be assigned to dens and many units assign ASM’s to patrols

@Rick.Sedivec I do not follow. Are you saying that all Adult leaders are being included in Sub-unit messages? That might be a YPT security measure national did.

Okay, I was trying to select “Unassigned” Scouts (Parents) as Recipients but I was unable to do this without getting a list mixed with Leader/Adults/Youth using the “Subunit” alone. For some reason I was unable to combine this with the “Filter: Youth” option. Now when I do this it is allowing me to combine Filter: Youth Subunit: Unassigned and it works as expected. - Thanks for the quick reply.

OK I think I understand - let me look

@Rick.Sedivec so

  1. You are trying to send a message to all Scouts not assigned - or all families of scouts not assigned
  2. You are getting Leaders on the list (this makes sense as they are also not assigned - but I see the issue)
  3. Are you also getting other parents in the list?

Unassigned is not really intended to be used as a patrol for communications - it is a holding corral.

Yes, there is a delay in assigning scouts to a Subunit but we are able to contact them as a group by combing the Filter: Youth Subunit: Unassigned (holding corral) - this is a technical solution until a Subunit is identified. Thanks!
