I’m trying to be proactive about getting our merit badge counselors to renew their membership. However, I’m seeing inconsistent information about their registration expiration.

When I look at reports | council merit badge counselor listing it says this users registration expiry (strexpirydt field) is 03/31/2025.

+----------+-------------+
| memberid | strexpirydt |
+----------+-------------+
| 4531068  | 2025-03-31  |

Likewise if I look at training manager | reports | not trained report (trainer leader status) it says that all of their registered positions expire 3/31/2025 (Registration_Expiration_Date field).

+----------+-----------------------------+------------------------------+
| MemberID |          Position           | Registration_Expiration_Date |

| 4531068  | Asst. District Commissioner | 2025-03-31                   |
| 4531068  | District Commissioner       | 2025-03-31                   |
| 4531068  | Merit Badge Counselor       | 2025-03-31                   |

The user sent me a screen shot of their my.scouting view which shows they expire in 2026, not 2025. And yes, I checked that the member ID is the same.

Why are these not consistent?

@JamesBrown13

Akela, the membership database, shows this member’s registrations expiring 3/31/25. I have no idea where the 3/31/26 date is coming from. You will need to work with your Council to get this resolved as the my.scouting.org team only works from tickets opened by Council staff.

I agree with Ed that the council will have to chase this one down through channels.

Just as a shot in the dark, I would wonder if what’s going on is whether the reporting tool is showing the “current” membership as not yet expired (i.e. it’s prior to 31 March 2025 right now), and there’s somewhere else that is tracking “next year’s membership” and that’s what is getting pulled for the my.scouting screenshot you shared. Not knowing enough about what the guts of the membership system looks like, I’m just throwing stuff at the wall to see if something sticks.

That sure does make it difficult for volunteers to do their jobs when national actively prevents us from accessing the information needed to do the job we’ve been asked to do.

@JamesBrown13

Again, you need to work with your Council. They are the only ones that can open tickets.
