@RobertMckeever I think once the calendar is fully migrated to IA, enhancements like that will be possible. Right now both have to be compatible and they don’t want to enhance anything on teh Scoutbook side of calendar.

Hunh. I see CoH as an option for troops right after Troop Meeting in the Scoutbook calendar.

For troops, I see:

  • Troop Meeting
  • Court of Honor
  • Patrol Leaders’ Council
  • Recruiting
  • Committee Meeting
  • Webelos to Scout Transition
  • Campout
  • Training
  • Other

What do you see on the crew side?

Hunh. Some of those would be useful to migrate into the Scouts BSA calendar once it moves fully onto IA2.

I think “Election” and “Open House” would be good, although I guess “Recruiting” would probably be semi-analogous to “Open House”. I wonder if the absence of a CoH ties back to when the Venturing ranks were awards, although I would have assumed that they were awarded at a CoH either way.

I can’t speak to reasons - they were already Ranks by the time I was involved. The troop list has me curious why an organized service event would not be an event type across the unit types. Eagle projects, Summit projects, Quartermaster projects, and generic service may be good additions.

Also curious as to the absence of an outdoor event as a type, one that is short of a campout definition. In Venturing, think of a Tier I type of adventure. Troops may have day events as well.

Probably need to refine the list of dropbox options before thinking seriously about semi-automation!

I think having a flag on the calendar record to say “Automatically Add New Scouts” would be very helpful and save a huge amount of time. Each time a new scout appears on the roster, a process could run (similar to the extension process), that added that scout to the calendar event.

The more Scoutbook / My.Scouting can default to the way most troops run, the more time leaders can be furthering the program.
