Good morning,
Neither my wife or I can get to the location to renew our Cub Scout’s Membership. We do not have the notification or the “little red bell” message stating that his expiry is near and so cannot seem to enter the process. Council is closed and is no help. Pack says we need to do them on our own… help… This is on either Mobile or Desktop with Windows 10. Chrome, Green Mountain Council and Memer ID 137479895.
(If you are reporting an issue with My.Scouting, please include all of the following items so we can better assist you:
1) Hardware: Desktop or Mobile (if mobile, please be specific)
2) Operating system
3) Browser
4) Browser cache has been cleared or you are using a private browsing mode (aka Incognito Window in Chrome)
5) Member ID & Council of person affected
Thank you!)
Thank you, We have that. But there is no “you have some registrations…” message, no little red bell and no link that we can find. We have not opted out.
@WilliamMount - then my suspicion is that you are not linked as a parent or that the unit paid the registration. I would start with the registrar to ensure that your correct BSA ID is linked to the scout in the relationships section of the person database. This would especially be the case if either parent has multiple member id’s.
Thank you. None of that is correct. I and my wife are both linked and the Pack sent a message requesting that we do the renewal. I did the Unit Renewal for the Troop so I know it can be done but wasn’t done in this circumstance. It just gets weirder and weirder.
@WilliamMount - are you referring to the link in scoutbook as parents ? If so, that has little to do with the person database that would drive the my.scouting notification and renewal.
The Scoutbook connections are different from the membership system relationships. The issue is your wife (I assume) has two member numbers. The relationship with R is on 137479896. Your council registrar will need to move the relationship using registrar tools from that member number to 12188486, which has her registered positions and is primary. While you’re at it, you should ask the registrar to add a parent relationship for you.

@WilliamMount As a temporary workaround, your wife can log into her account at my.Scouting and then she would:
- Click on “Manage Member ID”
- Set her other BSA member ID number as primary.
- Go back to the home page.
- I don’t know if she will get the bell icon or not. But if not, she should be able to click on “My Application”, and then click on the “My Renewals” tab.
After she finishes the renewal, she will want to go back and switch her other BSA member ID number back to primary.
In January, she can contact the local council and ask them to use their Registrar Tools to look up R. In the “Relationships” tab / section, they should remove her as parent under her secondary BSA member ID number. Then they should add her as parent under her primary BSA member ID number, the one ending in -486. As Jacob said, it would be a good idea for both of you to get your relationships corrected to your children. Then, either parent can do the renewal.
