Hi my son (BSA ID : 137241344) is membership is due 31.12.2024 but I (BSA ID : 140323084) didn’t get any renewal notice in email nor a pop up notification when I log into myScouting. Can you please help to check?
@Katty Scout’s Father is connected in AKELA not you - I recommend that you contact your local council and ask them to use the Registrar Tools to look up your children. When they look up your children, they want to check your children’s “User Relationship” and make sure that your children are connected to you as parent - would take up to 24 hours after that for renewal to work - or the father can log in and do it now
What is AKELA? In scoutbook, youth is connected to me and father doesn’t have an account in scoutbook nor myScouting…
@Katty - AKELA s the person database. I would gather the father was listed on the youth application so that is the person who is directly linked.
Connections in SB mean nothing for Renewal - AKELA is the Membership database that is independent from SB - talk to Council for solution
This youth was registered few years ago when everything was manual, actual form submission. This year this group of youth will be renewing very first time on their own and I anticipate lots of such problem will occur. So each problem will have to reach out to council for solutions? We have 50 over youth … in scoutbook advance my son is also linked to me but still no notification. But even if my son is linked to father, my husband never receive any email notification to renew his membership. So meaning the info of father is wrong in AKELA?
@Katty - as was pointed out, the connections in scoutbook are in no way related to the singular parent listed in AKELA. I can say that I received my renewal email today. That does not mean that they will all go out at the same time. They are staging the renewal notices as my council has informed us that is the case. Council will need to add you to your scout’s record so that you can renew otherwise the father will need to log into my.scouting.org and renew.
Your Husband has no email in the system - Units (Key 3) can check this at my.scouting.org > Roster > Grey area top > Export Roster - this shows Parents that can renew and IF they have an email
The parents won’t be listed in the rosters. Only the den leaders/ ADL and pack committees are listed in the roster so there is no way for us to find out the parent which is listed in AKELA. Would need to contact council on every case I assume
@Katty if you do what I say parents that are connected for renewal are listed on each Scout
I did not get a renewal notification for either of my children either, despite being connected to them. My wife, however, did.
@WilliamsburgScouter - that would mean her email will be listed with your scout on a roster export from my.scouting.org
So was mine. So, I guess I am wondering why my wife gets notified of our child’s renewal but I don’t?
@WilliamsburgScouter - wheni export the roster from my.scouting.org there is a p/g email column and that is what Donovan was noting is the AKELA parent of notification. I did not see anything that matches your screen grab.
Saw it now. So the email (my husband’s) is wrong. Only my council can change this email right?
So in this case only 1 parent will be notified because there is only 1 email to be listed in the roster.
My screen grab is from my info in my.scouting and shows I am attached to my child.
Moreover, I did download the p/g email (“P_G_Email”) for both children/units.
BOTH show my email, not my wife’s, P_G_Email.
And yet she was the one who got notified about our children’s renewals (not me)?
If it is truly based on that p/g column then I should have been the one emailed. But I wasn’t.
@WilliamsburgScouter - that is indeed interesting. I know I was able to renew my son along with myself even though my wife shows as the p/g email listed. I think you should raise this issue with your local council. I can only hope that someone gets the renew email or at the very least logs into my.scouting.org to look for renewals in our units.
I see in the membership database you are connected to 3 children with first initials W, A and R. Your e-mail address starts with br.
Your wife is connected to only A and R. Her e-mail address starts with j.
If your e-mail addresses are correct and you both did not get renewal notices for A and R, contact your Council and ask them to open a ticket with BSA Member Care.
Correct, I did not get renewals, she did for A and R, I got nothing.
