Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Is there a current/official reference to the procedure for parents to add their scout to access Scoutbook? Many of the links I’ve found seem to be out of date or “back door” methods.
As always, thanks to the Scoutbook team for all of their efforts.
Parents can go to scout in Scoutbook and click Extended Data - there is a place to Invite there - or they can create a my.scouting.org log in which is the same as a Scoutbook login
It’s only ever present for parents/guardians connected to the scout as such. Even then, if the scout already has an email address associated with their account (e.g. has a my.scouting account with an email), it won’t appear for them, either.

The pdf shows how to set up an account, and is useful. I can get that out to parents in the Units I’m a UC for.
However, is there a pdf (or other doc) that shows the steps a parent uses to link to their kid? That would also be quite useful.
Thanks
@DavidSchilpp there are 2 different links - on is - I recommend that They contact your local council and ask them to use the Registrar Tools to look up the children. When they look up the children, they want to check children’s “User Relationship” and make sure that children are connected to parent with Only the correct BSA member ID number - this will also make the SB link over a 24 hour period
The other is under SB > My Account > My Connections > there is red text at top of page to connect as a parent - the Scouts BSA # and info is needed
Hope you are getting paid very well for that extremely fast, good response.
Thanks much
(I had a parent from another Council get ahold of me to get info. He bitterly complained that the folks in his Council took over a week to get back to him. I told him he was dealing with volunteers and was lucky it was that quick. Not what he wanted to hear.)
