It would be great to have a button or switch for the parent to opt in or out of photo releases when they connect to their scout. this would also be helpful on the application itself too.

The Talent Release flag in the profiles sounds like what you’re looking for. The default is “No”. To change it, parents or adult leaders with at least Edit Profile privileges can go the the scouts’ profile pages individually and toggle the flag.
The BSA Part A AHMR form contains the written form of this release, I believe.
