I am the treasurer and a committee member in a pack, and I’ve been attempting to use the SB “Payment Log” feature to keep track of dues payments and other activity costs. However, I’ve now noticed that several new scouts do not appear in the Payment log – sometimes there parents do, sometimes they do not. I can see these scouts in the “Den” view, but if I click on them, I get a “You currently are not connected to this Scout” pop-up. I am connected to other scouts in the same den, and this issue also arises in my son’s den, where I am also an assistant den leader. My co-leaders don’t know what the issue is either, and so we are stuck - this means I can’t effectively use Scoutbook to track all dues and activity payments, which is obviously not ideal. Any help is appreciated.
Unless you are a unit admin you are not automatically connected to new Scouts. A current unit admin will need to use Connection Manager to connect you with full control to all Scouts.
How do I get to connection manager?
There’s a help wiki on the connection manager here:
https://help.scoutbook.scouting.org/knowledge-base/using-connection-manager-to-set-positions/
Note that you must be a Unit Key 3, Key 3 Delegate or a Scoutbook Unit Admin to use it.
Thanks Charley, I am SM and a Key 3 delegate as welll…Earlier this week I noticed we lost the ability to click on adult leaders and add/delete positions. When I go to unit roster, Connections manager, print roster, and roster import are simply not there. I’ve used Connection manager in the past, but it appears it may have disappeared with this last update. Any thoughts?
All of those seem to be working ok for me in Scoutbook (I’m just an ASM & K3D). Keep in mind that only the COR or COR Delegate (functional role at my.scouting) can change actual registered positions using Position Manager at my.scouting. The Key 3 can can all set functional roles (aside from COR Delegate, which can only be set by the COR).
Off hand, you shouldn’t need to be both SM and K3D, since SM is one of the Key 3. Maybe that’s confusing the system? Also, in Scoutbook, go to
My Dashboard → Administration → My Units → Troop XYZ → Troop Roster → your name
Then open your Troop Admin position and re-save it. Sometimes the Admin roles get messed up in the background and need to be reset (even though they look fine on the front end). The reset is path dependent, so you can’t just go via My Positions.
Does my.scouting think your registered position as SM is current? Can you see the official roster there?
@MelissaHuber2 your Troop Admin for your G unit ended April - another Admin will need to start it back up for you
We added Key 3 in awhile back because only the CC and COR were getting e-mail notifications of new YOUTH applications, that did the trick. I went back in Scoutbook and looked around a bit more, although I’m still listed as SM and Key 3, my Troop admin role has disappeared. I suspect that is the issue, as I’m also not connected to the Scout I registered yesterday. I’ve contacted someone in the troop who is still listed as unit admin and hopeful I can get them to add that role back in!
Which is weird because I literally had full access last week!
