Parent Connection Issues - Request For Help

We have a male Scout in our troop (BSA Member ID 13457550) who has one parent connected twice - his mother (BSA Member ID 13457527) is connected twice; in one case the Scout is listed as the son of the mother, in the second case the Scout is listed as the daughter of the mother. In most cases i wouldn’t bother trying to fix anything about this, but I think it’s affecting my ability to add the dad (BSA Member ID 14887707) as a parent… the parent option is greyed out, and I can only add the dad as an “Other Family Member.”

Any chance someone could help me figure this one out?

Thanks as always to to e SUAC!

@GregoryStevenson1 that is a Council fix

Adding to Donovan’s comments, the council needs to correct the “relationships” (buzzword) between the scout and the mother to only reflect the correct one. If the dad already has a Scouting America Member ID, the registrar can also connect the dad as a parent at the same time, if you provide the Member ID associated with his account. The dad should then appear as a connection automatically shortly thereafter (1-2 days).

Are you trying to connect them in classic Scoutbook? Parent/guardian connections have been moved out of classic Scoutbook altogether and can only be made in SB+. There’s a change log post about it (if I can find it…).

I’ve tried it in both OG Scoutbook and SB+ - in SB+ I get the following error: Error: Subunittype and subunitID are required.

Will reach out to Council to fix the mother’s links! Thanks y’all!

Hi, having issue with a family in our troop. Adult with 4 scouts. Adult BSA ID# 13017117 Scouts BSA ID# 131339201, 132501062, 134290050, 134290040 The mom can’t rsvp anymore for her scouts and each time she confirms the connection , the next time when she logs back on it’s dropped. Rsvp or commenting on an event isnt working either. She comments and she receives an error message she isn’t connected to scouts.

Please advise and fix. Thank you!

@Roopreet_DoveySawhne The local council will need to fix with their Registrar Tools. In the Scout’s “Relationships”, the dad shows as both “Father of” and “Son of” the Scouts.
