Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Why is adult DOB a required field when searching for a missing parent/scout connection? This info is not on the Youth Application. DOB is required for “Known Scouting Account ID” and “Search Scouting Account ID” searches. A 3 point connections First Name, Last Name, Member ID, and/or Zip Code should suffice?
Why can’t I search for First Name, Last Name, and Zip Code if I don’t have a member ID? This should be the first thing a leader can do to see if there is an existing account in my.scouting instead of “Please contact the individual you would like to add and ask them to create a Scouting account”. I thought I could do this in Legacy Scoutbook but those search options are all gone.
@ThomasCline- this is how Scouting America wanted it set up. If this is an issue then request your council to provide feedback to National about the issue.
I just discovered the paper youth application is the only place adult DOB is for new members. The digital application only list the age of the adult in years, not DOB. Will have council submit a ticket for my.scouting to show DOB instead of adult age in years.
