Parent won't stay connected to scout

I had to request our council to request assistance.

@DonovanMcNeil I have been disconnected again from my scout this morning.

Worth a shot @KimRitger

@BrianCope1 what is scouts BSA # so I can look at it for clues

Is there anything we can do to elevate this issue? or we’re just hoping scoutbook can fix it? In the meantime I have no way to get communications from the troop.

The programmers have been notified and they will be looking into fixing this. When the fix is implemented we will post it in the Scoutbook Change Log

@KimRitger

I just checked and you are still connected to your son this morning.

Yes. I see that now. When I checked earlier I was not, it seems I’ve been reconnected.

BSA ID is 12887780. I don’t have a way of knowing if this was her BSA ID from before we started having problems.

The problem with her dropping off my unit as a parent and not having a connection with her kids began when our recharter was processed a month ago. She is not a new Scouting parent. She has been a registered leader for several years, woodbadge trained and has had four kids in the BSA program at different levels. The changes from this last recharter are that two of her kids left the program and were not re-registered (her daughter Maia from Troop 927 and her son from another troop); and she did not re-register as a registered leader – she is now just a parent.

Her user name and password were reset as part of help ticket SSD-111117. It is odd that when she logs in, she only shows as having a Scoutbook User ID and no BSA ID. I have never seen this before.

Logging into my.scouting with the same user name as PW shows there is a connection with BSA ID 12887780.

Does she somehow have another sign-in that is also associated with either the BSA ID or SB ID? Is her email address associated with another user? Was she maybe only connected to her oldest daughter Maia and when Maia was not registered, Kim was then kicked out of the system?

If there is something I can do from my side, please let me know.

Thanks,

Brian

@BrianCope1 do not post Names in the forums or emails, or any PII other than BSA #

Also, Kim’s daughter Ava is in Troop 927 in Palmetto Council and her BSA ID is 135674325.

Her other daughter that is still registered is Reid, as a member of Cub Pack 109 in Palmetto Council. I don’t have all the BSA IDs but SB User IDs are below.

According to the system that the Council Registrars use, there is no problem with the connection between Kim and the kids.

Thanks,

Brian

We have access to see all of that. It appears to be a regular process that’s removing her permissions without removing her connection itself. We think this is related to some recent changes that ensure unregistered adults don’t have inappropriate access to youth info. But of course it’s a bug that this is happening to her connections to her children. We keep checking in with the developers, but they have not figured it out yet.

Well I continue to disconnect and reconnect randomly throughout the days now. So I’m not sure what changed. Every morning I am disconnected, and sometimes I get reconnected midday. Either way, I’m only receiving emails when I am connected to my scout.
