PayPal charging the wrong fee in Scoutbook

Our unit has been approved by PayPal for the reduced transaction fee of 1.99% for tax-exempt entities (our Chartered Org).

When users in Scoutbook make PayPal payments the standard fee of 3.49% is being charged, negating the whole point of a reduced fee.

Please help!

I would assume that is all controlled by the Paypal API?

Would it? It seems to me Scoutbook automatically deducts the fee, and the unit admin can set to either take if from the funds submitted by the user before the unit gets it, or added to the amount the unit is charging the user. That all appears to be happening in Scoutbook, not PayPal.

no it is all through the Paypal API - in the API I found one thing that says non-profit as opposed to business, or individual etc. I have asked the developers if that is implemented.

Or are you saying you are passing on the fee to users and SB is charging the users too much

I’m sorry, I don’t think I understand that the previous reply.

And yes: SB is charging the users (and the unit when we tried it that way) the standard rate and not the discounted rate that PayPal has approved and been using with the unit.

Did your Paypal Client ID change when you got the new designation?

No, we didn’t make any changes on our end

I can send you an email to send me supporting documents to developers - cause paypal must have this buried real deep.

Thanks! How do I get you my email?

I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green dot with a number 1 > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)
