Permission Change Question

Is there a reason that the update CANCELLED previous permissions for the users? I understand the reason for the update but, if a system is to be improved, it is considered good IT practice to MIGRATE existing permissions over, not OVERRIDE the previous permissions and make everyone start from scratch. I am the Advancement Chair for our troop. I am managing multiple scouts trying to complete Eagle close to their 18th birthday. Right now, I cannot view their records because my permissions were taken away by the “new and improved” update. My CC is not tech savvy and will not be available to reapply permissions for some time, due to their work schedule. Now my scouts trying to advance are asking me to update their records, but I can’t see their records anymore. How can I help them, now that my hands are tied by the “new and improved” Scoutbook Plus? We are volunteers, so this is especially aggravating. I am ready to quit volunteering, because every time there is an update to Scoutbook Plus, it take me DAYS to do my volunteer job. Why does every step forward in Scoutbook Plus equals two steps back for the volunteers?

Permissions were not simply migrated because Scoutbook permissions were not always role based and many people had more rights than they should have based on their registered roles.

The Guide to Advancement gives the Scoutmaster sole authority over who can approve advancement in the unit. It does not give default approval authority to the Unit Advancement Chair (UAC). In order to keep in line with the Guide to Advancement, the UAC does not get approval authority by default. Units need to either give the UAC the Unit Support permission or add advancement approval permission.

Any Key 3 member (Charter Org Rep, Scoutmaster, or Committee Chair) or Key 3 Delegate can update the permissions. It does not need to be your Committee Chair.

OK. The COR for the troop has never used Scoutbook Plus, nor will he ever, he says. The SM is the same. The SM signs the handbook and wants to do nothing more, as far as record keeping. That leaves me with my CC, who is never available. So, I guess I will contact my Council Advancement and ask them to update the records, for lack of Scoutbook Plus availability. By the way, I can’t even access MY OWN RECORD from the Roster page, so I don’t think your answer was spot on. However, I don’t really care anymore. Now that I am locked out, even from my own record (I guess SB+ decided to save me from myself?) it feels like a sign. Thanks for the clarification on my future endeavors. Have a great day!

Hi, There seems to be an issue for ASM who tries to enter awards after selecting awards under under quick entry. The system throws an error 403.

@Daffy if that is using Quick Entry that is a known reported bug

Thanks I also found under the advancement tab clicking on awards or merit badges also results in the same

@Daffy what advancement tab? can you show a screenshot?
