Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I’m trying to contact a parent of a scout that joined earlier this year. The parent account will not open and I get the following error: Person not found for given person GUID - personGuid: E26D4591-49C6-40C1-B1C6-A2C4F74C0970
I just got the same thing. I noticed the parent was opted out of emails and was trying to help them change it, they logged into scoutbook and said they can’t figure out how to opt-in to email. so they are logged in. When I try to look I get the same error message.
Hi Charley, your message confuses me. Let me better explain.
A parent is opted out of messsges (i noticed when sending a message)
I informed them they were opted out.
They were surprised and logged in to try and fix.
They couldnt find the spot to change the option and asked me for help.
I logged into my account and also could not find the option. Which i found strange.
I decided to look at their account profile to see if i noticed anything. I clicked on the cub scout acct and then clicked on the parent listed and got the message person not found (image included previously)
This seems to me to be more than an opt out email issues. Sounds like the parent can login to scoutbook but if i click on their account from the scouts profile i get the message person not found.
This is a separate (known) issue, that is being worked by the developers, based on posts from the SUAC volunteers in other threads. That issue is going to depend on whenever the developers figure out the solution to that widespread problem.
What I understood the question to be was “How do we reset the ‘No Emails’ flag?” That was the reason I sent the link/explanation that I did.
You looking at their account would not show you the toggle independent of the “individual not found” issue, because the No Email toggle is something only the individual user can actually see themselves. It is not in the “Edit Profile” interface on SB+, but rather under classic Scoutbook:
Scoutbook → My Dashboard → Administration → My Account → Email
Does that help you resolve the No Email toggle issue? There’s nothing you as a user can do about the “person not found” issue. That’s going to be waiting on the developers to resolve.
Yes, thank you for the details on how to update it. I searched the internet many times looking for the instructions and was not successful. I believe this will help the user get it set corrrectly.
Is my problem related to this text? I’m not sure what it means by this, but I assume it’s the parent account imported from my.scouting when they registered the scout.
I received the same error for the guardian of a new Scout.
I discovered the issue because the guardian isn’t getting any e-mails from Scoutbook. They’re not automatically added when the appropriate sub-unit is added to events. I’m unable to manually add them as an individual for events (other than as external guest), though it’s not clear if they’re receiving e-mails via that method either.
Scout’s MID is 141256779. Unable to find adult’s MID, in Scoutbook+ or legacy SB. Adult’s profile in legacy SB shows invitation pending. Adult may be linked to another Scout (sibling) in a different unit.
Clicking on Scout and parent connection in SB opens the parent profile. I can click Edit and (in SB+) see parent BSA ID 141176549. But if I click on the scout from the SB+ roster and click the parent connection in SB+, I get “Person not found for given person GUID - personGuid: E26D4591-49C6-40C1-B1C6-A2C4F74C0970”. Parent is the scout’s only connection and who registered the scout in My.Scouting.
Ok, this looks widespread. I can’t access any parent accounts from the SB+ scout connections.
I tried several and got this:
The error message you are showing only occurs in Scoutbook Plus, it cannot occur in Legacy Scoutbook. Go to the unit roster in Legacy Scoutbook, click on the gear icon in the upper right of the youths section of the roster and make sure show parent/guardian is turned on. Click on the desired parent’s name.
