I’m from Michigan Crossroads Council Pack 163. Neither myself nor my registered COR seem to be able to make any position changes to one user. We receive the error “This member is already assigned to two registered positions in this unit.” However, there is no option to remove her from the other positions for either of us.
My member ID is 13649205, my CORs is 13903167, and the affected user is 136721255.
We are trying to remove her from the Assistant Cubmaster and Committee Member roles, then assign her as Cubmaster before we complete the unit renewal.

Has your COR tried Position Manager in Scoutbook Plus? It may be able to get past the message and allow you to reassign this leader.
I guess where I am confused - you say the Scouter is already ACM AND Committee. That is 2 roles there. Have they tried to remove one > Save > then change the other > Save
Sorry if it is confusing. I am trying to remove the user from the Committee and ACM roles, then assign them to the CM role. You are right in that she is mistakenly associated with both the Committee and ACM. The COR has the exact same problem.
I realized what the technical issue is though. While the council may be able to make the change for us, its still a problem with the platform.
The Scoutbook Plus Permissions Manager is not counting the Key3 as a role and requiring that I add each person in the Key3 to another role within the unit. Which results in them being assigned to 2 roles.
The Position Manager in the Organization Manager on my.scouting.org is rightly noting that there are two roles assigned. I’m stuck in this catch-22 where I am forced in Scoutbook Plus to assign the current CM to a second role, without a way to remove them from the CM role. I can remove them from the CM role on the Organization Manager, but am blocked because that individual is in the second role which Scoutbook Plus is forcing me to do.
Here’s the issue step-by-step. Both errors are from the current-CM.
- Swapping the current-CM with the new-CM. Error saying the current-CM cannot be assigned to two roles. From Organization Manager/Position Manager
- Go to Scoutbook Plus to remove current-CM from second role. Current-CM is flagged as not being in a registered position and I must add them to one. From Scoutbook Plus Permissions Manager.
What do you mean by this? Do you mean the key 3 delegate position of the individual positions of Cubmaster, committee chair, and COR (for a pack)?
If it’s the latter, I suspect the issue is not that they don’t have a position in Scoutbook Plus, but that no one is assigned to the Cubmaster position.
I mean it exactly as I said, that’s what the problem is. Someone is assigned to the Cubmaster position. Even though the current-CM is assigned to the CM position, and has been for a couple years, Scoutbook Plus will not let me save unless I also add them to another position.
When I go to the Position Manager, I cannot remove the current-CM from the CM role. I get the error saying they are already assigned to two registered positions.
Can you try removing them from the CM position and adding them to something else instead?
We (Heart of Virginia / 602, Pack 555) have the same issue. I’d be interested to understand the solution.
