Positions for Parents not active in troop but want to camp once in a while

We have many parents in our Troop that are registered “committee members”, but they don’t participate in any scouting activities except 1 camping trip a year. They aren’t interested in leadership, doing training, or anything except an occasional camping trip. Should these adults be “Adult Participants” vs “Committee Members”. Their unwillingness to do the training is impacting our training % and if they aren’t doing the training and participating in meetings, why give them a phantom title? I don’t think you can move committee members to adult participants, so I think the existing adults would need to reapply. I’m sure this issue isn’t specific to my troop, what is everyone else doing?

@MichaelKennedy6

You can register them as Unit Scouter Reserve. This position still needs Safeguarding Youth Training but it does not require any other training.

Adult Participant is a Scout over the age of 18 that has been given an Eagle extension or has been authorized to register beyond the age of eligibility.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the response. Can only the COR or COR delegate move registered positions? I’m assuming Committee Chair or Scoutmaster can’t make these changes?

@MichaelKennedy6

Correct, only the COR or COR Delegate can change registered positions.
