I know our council has a robust process for that for Summer Camp. Other campouts it is up to the unit to follow proper G2SS (all adults registered). I think BlackPug has some times to systems to know registrations OR exports of the data allow one to compare in Excel.
I guess Iâll find out the details on everything tomorrow when we check-in, as this will be our first time camping at the council camp since the rules went into effect on 9/1. This all came down from our YPT Champion and the councilâs risk management committee. The announcement regarding what the campmasters will require came from our ACC who is also on the campmaster group. They said that many units have been tripped up by this so far at check-in, and they have a computer in the campmaster building to allow units to go and print out the roster from my.scouting if they didnât do it ahead of time, as theyâre no longer taking the handwritten rosters or the old roster forms we used to use.
It all goes to the liabilityâour councilâs ACC for YPT says that if there is not a verification done to ensure that all adults attending the camp are registered, the camp (and by extension, the council) is just as liable as the unit and CO is if something happens. That verification is done by cross-checking the roster from my.scouting.
Weâll see tomorrow how this all plays out.
I would suggest someone from your council put in a Ticket to national to get the report they need. I suspect other councils will appreciate this too.
This makes no sense, their worry is about the new requirement of all Adults being registered and so want to verify registration but then choose the worst possible report. The YPT Aging Report is so much better. It is easy enough to have a regular roster with everyone and YTP aging report as a supplement for verification, but unfortunately people get on power trips and make up their mind because that is the way they see it and wonât see reason or any other way. Sad.
Maybe I have been doing Scouting too long but is this foolishness just another example of national creating a requirement(s) with no way for those of us that actually work with Scouts to comply easily? I guess turning in the roster with 5pt font would not be nice but?
This report isnât a national requirement. Like many things on the G2SS, enforcement is up to the unit. This particular council is requiring a report that doesnât quite exist in the right format.
