I swear I did this recently for my son’s Archery merit badge for him to take to an Archery Merit Badge thing to try to finish it. But now I’m struggling. How do you print a Blue Card showing completed progress?
I…
- went to my son’s profile
- clicked on the Pending in his Merit Badges
- clicked one of his partial Merit Badges
- clicked Print Blue Card in the top right corner
However, a blank blue card downloads when I click Print Blue Card.
@JasonMott1 - a complete merit badge blue card will not show anything except complete in the section for requirements. Is that what you mean
Were the individual requirements marked as approved by the Archery merit badge counselor?
If the Merit BAdge has a Complete Date - then the Requirements become irrelevant and do not print
@JasonMott1
When you say blank blue card, is the entire card blank or just the requirements section? Does the MB have an overall completion date?
I’m sorry. I meant an incompleted merit badge. I’m looking for a blue card that shows what was signed off and what is not signed off. Not a completed merit badge
When I printed it off for Archery, yes, it showed the requirements that were completed at camp and the two requirements that still needed to be completed. But I can’t get that now. Just a blank blue card
I’m trying to talk about a merit badge that is not completed. A partial merit badge that has some requirements completed, not all.
It has his name, troop, and council information and merit badge name. But the requirements are all blank. I’m trying to get a blue card for a partial merit badge that shows which requirements are already completed
@JasonMott1 - when you are on the merit badge page itself it shows reqs as completed
@JasonMott1
When I look in the DB, none of the reqs appear to be Counselor or Leader approved. This will prevent them from printing on a Blue Card as only approved reqs will print.
Right. On the web page. But if I want to print that off so my son can take it to someone else to show that he has a partial. Clicking Print Blue Card doesn’t show the completed requirements
@JasonMott1 - someone will need to approve the completed requirements
@JasonMott1
Because the requirements are not approved, it is just the Scout saying he is ready to be tested. Nothing has been signed off so it is not a partial MB, it is just a newly started MB. A partial MB by definition has had an MBC sign off some requirements.
I really wish I could show screenshots. I really think we’re on different wavelengths. The requirements on his partial merit badges were signed off from scout camp. These requirements that I’m referring to have the green check mark “Completed” next to them.
There are multiple states that exist for requirements:
- Complete - Can be marked by scout, parent, scouter or MBC, but does not actually indicate that the scout has been tested.
- Counselor Approved - Can only be marked by the MBC connected to the scout in SB+, indicates that the scout has been tested, but does not officially commit the requirement/badge in the advancement database.
- Leader Approved - Can only be marked by a scouter in the scout’s unit who has permissions to approve advancement (Key 3 & Key 3 Delegates by default, others by assignment from the former). This is what commits the requirement/badge in the database.
ETA: I can’t recall if requirements only marked “Leader Approved” (i.e. not also marked Counselor Approved" will appear in the printed blue card. I know that those marked “Counselor Approved” in SB+ and those marked both “Leader Approved” and “Counselor Approved” will appear with initials next to them on the printed blue card, or both appear, since I have some of the latter two options to test in my unit.
Thanks for the clarification, Ed.
@JasonMott1 - they need to be marked approved which is blue
@CharleyHamilton
Reqs that are only Leader Approved will appear on a printed Blue Card.
@JasonMott1
If these were done at summer camp last year, your unit should have proof they were completed from the camp and a leader an approve the requirements.
@JasonMott1 - this is what they should look like
