Private Unit Forum: Not Synching to All Members

Hi! I opened a private unit forum for our troop to assist with communication channels. For some reason I am the only person who can access the forum, but when others attempt to access the link they receive an “Oops! That page doesn’t exist or is private.”

I’ve selected the “Sync Unit Members” link in settings, but other folks are still unable to access the private forum (via the link or in Forums).

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

@LeNayaHezel unfortunately - those have never worked as desired with the Discourse platform and Scouting America - members always lag behind, never show up or hang for years after they are gone - best to use alternative methods

@DonovanMcNeil What is Discourse? The private forum is something that can be accessed through settings. I’ve attached a screenshot for context.

I am trying to move comms from another platform to Scoutbook to drive folks to look at Scoutbook for information that is listed in the events and have Scoutbook serve as the platform of record regarding troop information. Free apps like Signal are great for quickly exchanging updates among parents, but they do no offer the option to create channels nor have a searchable feature, like the forums.

When I saw that a unit-specific forum that is private could be created for a troop, I was hoping this was the golden ticket to solving some of our comms challenges.

Discourse is the 3rd party app/service used for the forums - from day one the unit private forums have not worked which is why they have not caught on. There are much better and free options.

Bummer–thanks for the feedback. Hopefully the tech folks overseeing Scoutbook can create something that is functional.
